Day 19 Trial Video

Synopsis: I’m sure most of you have heard about the letters they were sending back and forth in jail, on police statement paper, delivered by an officer making copies of them. I know some people are a little shocked about the jail house marriage proposal. But is it really that surprising?
The defense starts next week, that should be interesting.

Day 18 Trial

Due to technical difficulties, we do not have video right now. possibly later.

Kacy Lancaster took the stand for most of the day, explaining her side of the story. Apparently Jeremy watched the movie Natural Born Killers, not once, but twice the night before the murders. (that movie is like 3 hours long)
More snorting cocaine and smoking pot before and after.

Here is a great line from the Herald article today:

“I wanted to go out with him until I found out he had a girlfriend,” said Lancaster, admitting she had a crush on 23-year-old Steinke, who was a high school dropout living in his mother’s mobile home.

These kids were real winners.

Canada Day Festivities

I am really excited about Canada Day this year. It looks like it is going to be a great event. Didn’t the guy on radio this morning say that it is going to be the best fireworks display this side of Toronto? I’m pumped.

Econoline Crush at the Sandfly festival

I’m sure most of you are wondering who this Econoline Crush band is that’s playing this Sunday at the Sandfly festival. I was a fan when they first hit the scene, and had a chance to see them at the Sadledome about 12 years ago when they opened up for….Kiss I think. I find it a bit surprising as a choice for the Sandfly fesitval as E.C. is a hard, industrial type band (They were often compared to Nine Inch Nails). Not the first group that comes to mind when I think “Family Oriented”. This was my favorite song off of Purge (their first EP, I still have the CD), and the one that really got me into them.

Language warning!!

Day 15 Trial Video

Synopsis: Three witness’s today that were friends of Jeremy, including one of the girls that where found in the truck. Sounds like they are going to try to pin everything on Jeremy, that is the defense strategy. Strange, since it was her idea. And great job to Chat for the excellent coverage today.

And according to Sherri’s article today, JR’s biggest concern when they got arrested, is that Jeremy would be charged with rape.

Esplande online archives opened

picAs you may have heard last week, the online archives have officially been opened.  I am not sure why they choose to announce the opening now, as I have been browsing the website for a year.  Some of the old pictures are great, and a few are featured on our flickr feed.  It would be nice to have a “browse” function for the pictures, as right now you have to enter a description into the search field and hope for some results.

If you have some time, it is worth checking out, there’s some great history.

I don’t have video today.  Nothing to major from the trial yesterday, although the Judge did dismiss court until Monday due to “legal matters”.
